Chelmsford, Essex 2002

The garden owners lived in a three bedroom terraced house in the centre of Chelmsford & wanted a garden packed full of plants that would offer year round interest and yet meet their demands for low maintenance.  Originally the garden had two small lawns, a concrete path to the right hand side and some shrubs to the left.  In addition to the request for more flowers, the owners requested an area for growing vegetables and a greenhouse for over wintering plants.

The finished garden has been split up into a series of 'rooms' to reduce the impact of the narrow width of the garden, movement is encouraged by the winding pathway reinforced by the careful placement of architectural plants.
